Award Winning B&B

What better reason to visit than to sample our award winning hospitality? When we bought St Johns we were complete novices to the world of hospitality with our varied backgrounds, but we knew what was important to us and how to make a stay more than a stay, but a real memorable holiday. In 2019 our AA 4 star category was raised to 4 star silver and we were awarded the breakfast award. Although we have decided to leave the AA scheme, we are maintaining the high standards associated with the accreditation.

 

We initially applied for the Dorset Tourism Awards in 2020. Apart from the possibility of  winning, it was also important to us to be assessed and provided with feedback in order to develop further. Again following an overnight stay we were given a Commended award – a real surprise! Plus we learnt so much from the extensive feedback – especially about our website, which was failing us miserably at the time.

So the following year with all of our changes in hand and more experience under our belts we entered again. But this time we had the pandemic to contend with and had to change our application numerous times along the extended entry window to accommodate all of the safety changes for our guests. But via the magic of Zoom and dressed in our finery (and slippers of course!) we were awarded Silver! We were delighted! And when a few months later we found our we had been put forward to the regionals we couldn’t believe it! Again via Zoom as the pandemic continued we were awarded Silver again, but at this higher level! The bubbles flowed!

We do seem to have a bit of a pattern establishing now and so last year we entered again at Dorset level thinking life will almost certainly be back to normal, but not quite. We didn’t have an overnight assessment but we did have a day visit by the judge, that included staying for breakfast. And again by the power of zoom in February 2022 we were awarded Gold! Followed, in April with Bronze at regional level!

Also in 2022 we were awarded TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Best of the Best award – number 20 in the B&B category for the whole of the UK! This is very much thanks to all of our lovely guests that have taken the time to write a review. Thank you! This was echoed in 2023 with us being placed at number 6 in the UK!
